We saw quite a bit of ugly this past weekend at the Madrid Derby and once again it was against Atlético Madrid and a sector of their fanbase that really should not be allowed to be a part of football.

Sure, I have a bias towards Real Madrid BUT stupid behavior is stupid behavior no matter who is doing it.

In this episode, I give my thoughts on the Real Madrid derby, Frente Atlético, ultra fan groups—who are really clowns...not fans—and I also talk a bit about football as well.

I like a good conversation, a good debate, and a bit of drama here and there. So I have to say I liked this podcast because well I spoke from the heart.

Football should be about football. Some banter is fine. Heated rivalries are good. But violence, racism, etc...are not. That is not football.

It was a nervy game that saw Los Blancos suffering from the same problems that have been affecting them since the beginning of the season. While the star-studded attack of Vinicius, Mbappé, and Rodrygo shows flashes of breakneck speed, skill, and firepower...it still seems disjointed. Jude Bellingham's return added a bit more creativity and stability to the midfield but the entire team still lacks cohesion.

The growing pains continue BUT Real Madrid was still able to beat Stuttgart 3-1 and start off their title defense with a win.

In this episode of the podcast we talk about Real Madrid's difficult win over Real Sociedad, their recent win against Stuttgart and the continued controversy surrounding Vini Jr, where it seems the Spanish press, antimadridistas, and even some Real Madrid fans just can't seem to set their prejudices aside and prefer to stir up drama about every comment and/or gesture he makes.

Some of the concerns and nerves surrounding Real Madrid these past few weeks have, as always, been driven by the Spanish press and Real Madrid's very reactionary and often unforgiving fanbase.

Real Madrid must always win. They can't draw, let alone lose, and because of the arrival of Kylian Mbappé they are expected to win by large often insulting margins. But the reality has been far from that, so the press, Real Madrid fans, and anti-Madrid fans had their knives out.

Even though Real Madrid still hadn't lost a game, two draws and one win were far from ideal and the match against Real Betis was given monumental importance, even if it was only Real Madrid's 4th game of the season.

Real Madrid looked better on the pitch. They are still far from a finished product but Ceballos brought an added stability to the midfield that was absent previously. And Fede Valverde, Kroos' heir apparent in both number and responsibility, took it upon himself to drive Real Madrid forward with his never ending gas tank, pace, and grit. Mbappé, Vinicius, and Rodrygo seemed to be much more cohesive...and the Frenchman finally got not one but two goals to open his LaLiga tally. The first goal by Mbappe was the product of a diagonal Rodrygo run and a masterful back heel pass from Valverde. Mbappé's second goal came from the penalty spot after Vinicius was taken down in the box. And instead of taking on the responsibility himself Vinicius gave the chance to Mbappé.

He scored and all was right in the Kingdom of Real Madrid once again...at least for now.

This victory won't calm the sharks that are currently circling Real Madrid waiting to tear them apart with criticism should they slip up. But with the team on a short hiatus due to the international break, this victory provided the right amount of chum to calm the feeding frenzy for a bit.

All we can do now is wait and see what will happen once Los Blancos return from the international break. But it seems like Real Madrid is slowly but surely finding their form. And when they do...the goals will continue to come.

A new season is upon us, both for Real Madrid and for the Y Nada Mas podcast.

We're back and what a time to come back.

In this episode, we discuss Real Madrid's draw with Mallorca. A disappointing start considering all eyes were on Real Madrid since it was Kylian Mbappé's debut. However, it's much to early to draw any conclusions from this game or begin calling for anyone's head. The team will need to find a formation that works, figure out who will fill the giant gap in midfield left by the legendary Toni Kroos, and continue to build chemistry with our newest marquee signing.

With a little fine tuning, Real Madrid will no doubt continue to be the favorite to defend their LaLiga title as well as compete in all competitions.

Carlo Ancelotti made quite a few changes to the Starting XI that had faced Rayo at the Bernabeu over the weekend. Brahim Diaz stepped in for Jude Bellingham, Lucas Vasquez slotted into right back in place of Dani Carvajal, and Rodrygo was back in the attack in place of Joselu.

Brahim opened up the scoring, Vinicius made it 2-0 with a great strike, and finally, Rodrygo scored a much-needed goal that was not only a beauty but will surely also boost his confidence again in front of goal. Both Vini and Rodrygo, who have not been at their best in La Liga, looked solid in attack and seemed to once again find the swagger that made them a nightmare for opposing defenders.

Since their loss against Atlético Madrid in the Madrid derby Real Madrid has demonstrated a winning mentality and has returned to the top of the league table with recent wins over Las Palmas, Girona, and Osasuna. In the Champions League, Los Blancos defeated Serie A champions Napoli.

Jude Bellingham has continued his incredible form and now has 10 goals in 10 games for Real Madrid in all competitions.

Sevilla, regardless of their current form, is a different team to face when they play in their home ground of the Sanchéz Pizjuán but as we discuss in this podcast, the team with likes of Bellingham, Vinicius, Tchouameni, Kroos, etc...have begun finding their footing in Ancelotti's new system.

We'll see if the international break will affect Los Blancos.

But this is Real Madrid, and a loss against our crosstown rivals always stings and gives the more rabid elements of the Real Madrid fanbase a reason to claim that the house needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt from scratch, so to speak.

Los Blancos then defeated Atlético Madrid in a heated Copa Del Rey match that was preceded by disgusting racially charged antics by some Atlético Madrid fans towards Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior. Real Madrid then drew against a tough Real Sociedad, dropping important points in the La Liga title race.

A 2-0 victory over Valencia put Los Blancos back on track but a disastrous performance versus Mallorca saw them lose not only the game but fall further back of FC Barcelona in the title race. With Barcelona now 8 points clear at the top of La Liga and multiple Real Madrid players injured, it now seems Real Madrid's title defense is out of reach.

However, aside from Real Madrid's up-and-down performances on the pitch, injuries, fatigue, and lack from the board to buy any backup players during the winter transfer window, now Real Madrid's star winger, Vinicius Junior, has been on the receiving end of multiple instances of racial abuse and what we feel is a coordinated attack by many in the Spanish media to paint him as some sort of villain.

In this podcast, we wanted to touch on racism in La Liga and football as a whole, our zero tolerance for it, as well as Real Madrid's sporting woes and much more.

After a loss to Villarreal in La Liga and a bitter defeat to Barcelona in the Supercopa final, Real Madrid clawed their way back from 2-0 down to defeat Villarreal in the Copa del Rey and then defeated the always-tough Athletic Club 2-0 in La Liga. Both of those games were played away from home, in hostile territory, in stadiums that have always been difficult for Los Blancos.

And if there is one thing this team has taught their haters over the years, it's that just when you think you have them beat, they can turn things around and crush your dreams.

Real Madrid has little time to right the ship as they are off to Saudi Arabia this week to face Valencia for the Supercopa de España. They will then need to return to Estadio de la Cerámica again in order to play Villareal again in the Round of 16 of La Copa Del Rey. If Real Madrid can't turn around what has been unconvincing performances as of late, it will be tough times ahead for Madridistas. Los Blancos have a string of difficult fixtures coming up versus the likes of Valencia, Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, and Real Sociedad coming up and all of these times will be chomping at the bit to get 3 points from what seems to be an underperforming Real Madrid.

In this episode, we discuss the game versus Villarreal, the lack of depth in the squads, the dip in from some of the players, and how Madridistas should strap for what will be a difficult few weeks. But with that said, this team is no stranger to coming from behind and proving everyone, even it's loyal fans, wrong. It's a team that loves to make us suffer. After almost 14 years at Real Madrid, countless moments of magic, struggles, and perseverance, Monsieur Karim Benzema rightfully etched his name into the upper echelon of footballers who have won the Ballon D'Or trophy.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing though. Real Madrid does have a tendency to take their foot off the gas and let teams get back into the game at times but overall, once Real Madrid get into their rhythm, they can look dominant and even unstoppable at times.

However, Real Madrid’s recent victory over Celtic in the Champions League was bittersweet. They took home the victory but will lose Karim Benzema to injury for a few games. But perhaps the solace Madridistas can take away from the situation is that it seems like Eden Hazard may finally be finding his form again. But…there simply is no substitute for Benzema, and management’s lack of any movement in the transfer window to remedy the team’s lack of depth at the No. 9 position is showing itself much earlier in the season than expected.

It's also important to remember that the pre-season is used to get players back into competition rhythm before the start of the season and to experiment with lineups, analyze newly arrived players, and in some cases see which players will or should be on the chopping block during the transfer window.

For many Real Madrid fans and pundits, this 0-1 pre-season loss also served to drive home the point that Real Madrid needs to add depth to their attack because, without Karim Benzema, goals will be more difficult to come by and if the Frenchman gets injured or needs to be rotated, Mariano or Eden Hazard in a false 9 role will not cut it. In addition, a natural RW would also do wonders to give Rodrygo, who is truly better as an LW, some competition, since Marco Asensio's inconsistency leaves Los Blancos lacking depth on the right flank as well.

But it's not all doom and gloom for Real Madrid, although the self-hating, self-loathing, never-happy-with-anything Madridista types would like to say otherwise. This team is currently UCL and Spanish champions, sure we need to add a bit of depth, but there is plenty to be excited about and the season has yet to start.

It's been a rollercoaster of a season for #Madridistas. It's probably been a rollercoaster of a season for Carlo Ancelotti who has been on the receiving end of ire and criticism throughout his now 2nd tenure at Real Madrid.

Many Madridistas doubted that Casemiro, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric could continue to deliver the same results they have for the past few seasons. Many wanted Vinicius Jr. to go out on loan. Benzema was also seen as a striker on his way out, and many were wondering how our defense would hold up after the exits of Sergio Ramos and Raphaël Varane.

If you would have told Madridistas that THIS Real Madrid team was going to lift their 14th #UCL title and 35th La Liga title at the end of the season, they most likely would have told you that you were being way too optimistic.

Most would have told you that La Liga was possible, maybe the Copa Del Rey, but the UCL was a bit of a longshot for most.

But in the end, many Madridistas, the pundits, and the stats lovers…were wrong.

This is a UCL campaign that will go down as legendary. It defied odds and expectations, but in the end, it also cemented the legacy of Real Madrid as a team that absolutely never gives up. That can never be thought of as being finished because just when you think they are defeated…they will snatch victory away from you and leave you wondering, "what just happened?"

"What just happened?" That was something a lot of us said this season. In this episode, we talk about the UCL final, La Liga, and just the crazy joy that was Real Madrid's 2021-2022 season.

Barcelona, who was enjoying a good run of form under Xavi and had beaten Real Madrid 4-0 in El Clásico began to lose steam and also lose points. The consistency of Real Madrid after the loss to Barcelona and the loss of form of their direct rivals allowed Real Madrid to claim the LaLiga title with 4 games left in their domestic season.

However, while Madridistas are no doubt elated by the 35th title win for Los Blancos, the second leg of the Champions League semi-final versus Manchester City looms large.

The first leg gave football fans a seven-goal thriller that has become an instant classic. Both teams were able to score but both teams made grave mistakes. Manchester City came away with a one-goal advantage winning the game 4-3 at the Etihad but this is a Real Madrid that has been used to having their backs against the wall this season and is also used to the pressure and anxiety of Champions League nights. Manchester City will also now have to face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu…which is without a doubt a place where Los Blancos seem to conjure up magic even when defeat looks certain.

Will Real Madrid send the Citizens home? It will be difficult but not impossible. We feel that despite the 1-goal disadvantage…Real Madrid might be the team with the better chances to win. And not because they are necessarily the better football team but because this team seems to snatch wins from the jaws of defeat consistently and as Luka Modric says…"never gives up".

But oh how quickly the tables turn in football. How quickly the narrative shifts. Since Real Madrid's loss to Barcelona Real Madrid has beaten Celta Vigo, Getafe, Sevilla, and Osasuna in La Liga and in the UCL played a masterful game at Stamford Bridge to defeat Chelsea in the 1st leg and then mounted an epic comeback once again in the 2nd leg to defeat Chelsea 5-4 on aggregate after Chelsea went 3-0 up at the Bernabeu.

In La Lige, Sevilla also went 2-0 up in the Sanchez Pizjuan only for Real Madrid to once again mount a comeback and win the match 3-2. And while Real Madrid was calling its way back from defeat in multiple games, Barcelona and the "Xavineta" began to flounder.

Xavi & Co. crashed out of the Europa League at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt and then lost important matches against Cádiz and Rayo Vallecano that have now left Real Madrid 1-point away from their 35th La Liga title.

In this episode, we discuss Real Madrid's comebacks, their recent wins in La Liga, the importance of Valverde, the love/hate relationship Madridistas seem to have with Carlo Ancelotti, the upcoming match with Manchester City, transfer rumors, and more.

Once again Real Madrid are humiliated by Barcelona in the Santiago Bernabeu and the worst part of it is that this could have been avoided. The team lacked attitude but worst of all the tactics employed by Ancelotti were a complete failure. Perplexing choices that made a Barcelona that is still in the rebuilding phase look like a golden era Barcelona.

Yes, we may still win the league, yes, we are in the Champions League and still fighting. But to lose against your biggest rival, AGAIN, by a lopsided scoreline is unnerving but especially because with some better coaching and a better attitude, it could have been avoided.

With that said, this is Real Madrid and we will be back and we laugh at our rivals again on some other occasion. However, seemingly capitulating to Barcelona simply because you hold a lead in the league is a terrible look.

Changes need to be made at Real Madrid. Yes, it's just one game but the problem is the future looks unsustainable if we don't make changes to the aging and weak positions in our squad and play with a more structured approach.

Will this win cause a change in Ancelotti's sometimes stubborn style of coaching and give Valverde and Camavinga more playing time when Los Blancos face teams that like to press high and attack? Will Rodrygo start over Asensio? How are our chances against the more organized, more consistent teams in Europe such as Manchester City, Bayern Munich, or Liverpool?

Where else does Real Madrid need to make changes? Even if we get Mbappé, is that enough?

There is still a lot left to discuss after the win over PSG and of course still a lot more to celebrate. Sevilla dropped points this weekend as well so Real Madrid is also in a prime position to extend their lead in La Liga even further with a win over Mallorca. But even with a long list of past magical European nights…Real Madrid's "remontada" victory over PSG at the Santiago Bernabeu was just as special. A 17-minute hat-trick from Karim Benzema helped Real Madrid overcome a 0-2 deficit and sent PSG crashing out of the Champions League.

The reality is that PSG even with its billionaire owners and multi-million dollar star-studded lineup was and is not a team. And last night they crashed face-first into a legendary institution whose players understand how important it is to play as a team and represent their colors. PSG was a group of individuals who are very talented at playing football…but are not a TEAM.

They lost against a young and hungry squad that had two LEADERS in Karim Benzema and Luka Modrić pulling the strings. They never gave up, the fans never lost faith, and Real Madrid once again proved why they are 13-time European champions.

Los Blancos made the Supercopa De España semi-final in Riyadh a lot more difficult than it needed to be and allowed a youthful, resurgent Barcelona to get back into the game twice.

However, in the end, Real Madrid were able to put the game away in extra time, take home their 100th El Clásico victory over the Blaugranas, and move on to the final on Sunday where they will face Athletic Bilbao.

After an extended holiday season, the YNM Podcast team is back and so it was only right to get the podcast back up and running. Los Blancos have had a very difficult schedule as of late facing the top teams of #LaLiga while also playing the remaining games in their UEFA Champions League group. The calls for Ancelotti to rotate the squad have been getting louder as many Madridistas are worried that Los Blancos could risk important players picking up injuries. After the international break, Real Madrid came back demonstrating some good offensive football.

Real Madrid went up 2-0 early before sitting back and conceding towards the end of the first half. In the second half, Real Madrid dominated and finished off the game by putting two more goals in the back of Granada's net.

In this episode, we discuss the win over Granada and the vintage performances put in by Real Madrid's experienced midfield trio of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Casemiro. In addition, Vinicius Jr, who had a somewhat quiet first half had a dazzling second half that literally had Granada's defense losing their tempers as they were unable to stop the young Brazilian.

Los Blancos have won their last 3 games with the same scoreline, 2-1, and their performances have been good, but not great. While Vinicius and Benzema have become one of Europe's most lethal duos, the team still remains somewhat unconvincing due to the fact that the team seems to take the foot off the gas pedal after going ahead.

The rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona is historic. While many of the players and fans these days see the rivalry as being in sport only, within Spain it is still at times fiercely sociopolitical.

This historical animosity combined with the fact that both teams have been immensely successful in world football makes it one of the world's most anticipated matches.

With Real Madrid's 2-1 win over their bitter rivals this weekend, Los Blancos have now won the last 4 Clásicos. They have also now won a grand total of 99 Clásicos to Barcelona's 96.

Both teams are in a restructuring process now that the Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo era is over, however it is the team from the Spanish capital that is in a better position both financially and sportively.

While many in the world may be sad to see FC Barcelona in such a state, for Madridistas...Barcelona woes = Madrid smiles.

The losses against Sheriff Tiraspol and RCD Espanyol, still sting but they feel like a lifetime ago at this point. And Real Madrid helped Madridistas forget those two losses by looking very much like the Real Madrid of old and running riot in Kiev against Shakthar Donetsk.

1 own goal, a spectacular Vincius brace, another Rodrygo UCL goal, a Benzema goal, and a clean sheet earned Real Madrid an emphatic 5-0 win over Shakhtar who were a team that gave us headaches last season in the UCL.

Are all of our problems fixed? Well, it remains to be seen...but Kroos at full fitness and Ferland Mendy back in the Starting XI made a huge difference for Real Madrid. And a performance like this right before El Clásico, is extremely positive.

Now, just when we thought we were going to be flying high after a steady stream of positive results…Real Madrid stumble at the Bernabeu and are only able to get one point from their clash with Villareal.

But too many Madridistas are reactionary and bitter souls that see one bad game and think their armchair tactics would have saved the game. It's a 0-0 draw in the 7th game of a 38 game season and Villareal are the current Europa League champions. This wasn't going to be another bulldozing game like what we saw against Mallorca.

It is much too early to overreact as Real Madrid was using most of its first-team players and left Ancelotti with many Castilla players as his only option. However, players like Marcelo, Isco, and Luka Jović who had not featured in a Real Madrid starting XI for some time, did themselves no favors as they were in many ways the weakest of what Real Madrid had to offer.

On the other hand, many of Real Madrid's youth prospects performed well and took advantage of the opportunity that Ancelotti gave them to make an impression. The standout players of the match were backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin and Rodrygo, who scored early with a beautiful goal. Other standouts included Miguel Gutierrez, Sergio Arribas, and Antonio Blanco.

In a wild weekend, Real Madrid had the La Liga title in their sights when a Casemiro cross ricocheted off of Nacho's legs an into the net for a 1-0 lead. Meanwhile in Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, Osasuna had gone up 1-0 against league leaders Atlético and for a few minutes it seemed to many Real Madrid fans that the title race was swinging in their directions.

However, the happiness was short lived as Atlético mounted a comeback in the final 10 minutes of the game to end the match 2-1.

With Barcelona's loss to Celta Vigo at the Camp Nou, the title race is now solely between the two Madrid clubs. Atlético will face Valladolid away, while Real Madrid will welcome Villareal to the Alfredo Di Stefano. Real Madrid need a victory and a Valladolid win or draw versus Atlético to walk away with the La Liga title.

"Hope is the last thing that dies", and many Madridistas are hoping to life the title next Sunday.

With Barcelona's loss to Granada earlier in the week and Sevilla's loss against Athletic Bilbao, the La Liga title race will come down to the wire and will be contested by three very familiar foes...Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

With a second draw in their last 3 games, Real Madrid's best chance for a La Liga title lies in winning ALL of their remaining games and hoping that Barcelona and Atletico drop points.

Zinedine Zidane's team have fought hard this season in the face of 50+ injuries and COVID, but as the season comes to a close it is clear that fatigue has begun affecting some of our most important players i.e. Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić. Real Madrid's draw versus Getafe, while disappointing, was not entirely unexpected given that Los Blancos were without starters Nacho and Casemiro due to suspension; Mendy and Lucas Vazquez due to injury; and Varane and Valverde due to COVID. In addition, Sergio Ramos, Hazard, and Carvajal have also been out of the squad due to injury.

Needless to say, Real Madrid's injury woes have continued to affect them throughout the season.

The fact that Real Madrid was able to secure a draw away from home with so many absences and a makeshift defense that included Real Madrid Castilla's Victor Chust, is a bit of a moral victory considering how difficult and physical Getafe can be.

In what was an exciting and nerve-wracking game for Madridistas, Real Madrid was quick and clinical on the counterattack and went up 2-0 on the scoresheet versus their bitter rivals FC Barcelona.

The first goal was a world-class backheel finish by Los Blanco's top goalscorer Karim Benzema. And the second goal was a free-kick by Toni Kroos that deflected off of Barcelona's Sergiño Dest leaving goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen with little chance of stopping it.

While Real Madrid was able to capitalize on their chances it was FC Barcelona that poured on the pressure throughout the game in hopes of making a comeback. FC Barcelona's Óscar Mingueza pulled one back for the Blaugranas in the second half but Real Madrid was able to hold on for what was without a doubt an important win on their quest to win a second consecutive La Liga title.

There have been multiple "do or die" moments for Los Blancos this season but THIS is the week that will essentially determine whether or not they will lift any silverware.

Real Madrid continued their fight to defend their La Liga title with a 3-1 over Celta Vigo away from home. However, while Real Madrid was able the secure points, their rivals, Atlético Madrid and Barcelona, were also able to come away from their games with 3 important points.

Real Madrid are currently in third place, 6 points behind league leaders Atlético and 2 points behind bitter rivals Barcelona. All three teams have difficult matchups in front of them where they can easily drop points, including El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona, which could decide who will remain in the fight for the title.

However, Real Madrid is the only Spanish team still left in the Champions League. Their quarterfinal matches with Liverpool could distract Los Blancos from their fight in La Liga, leaving the door open for Atlético Madrid and Barcelona to battle for the title.

It is unlikely that Real Madrid will end this season with any silverware but perhaps more important than trophies is the need for Real Madrid to rebuild and put together a winning project. A project that will have the difficult task of putting the Cristiano Ronaldo/UCL 3-peat era behind and bringing a new legacy of European triumphs to the Bernabeu.

It will not be easy and it will be painful. But Madrid can no longer continue on the route it is currently on.

While their win against Inter Milan midweek demonstrated industrious football and teamwork, their loss versus Aláves in La Liga on Saturday showcased the exact opposite.

Real Madrid's injury woes continued as they faced Inter Milan without Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, and Federico Valverde. However, Real Madrid's defensive line was able to shutdown Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku somewhat effortlessly with strong performances by Raphaël Varane and substitute center back, Nacho.

In midfield, both Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos were at their world-class best and were instrumental in breaking up any opportunity Inter Milan had to mount an attack. It was a strong performance that led to a historic win for Los Blancos, as they had never defeated Inter Milan at San Siro Stadium.

On the back of the important win in Italy, there was a feeling among the Madrid faithful that the team would have minimal difficulty with mid-table Deportivo Alavés at home in Madrid. However, Real Madrid has been anything but consistent this season.

In a game that was marred by terrible officiating and yet more injuries, Real Madrid looked nothing like the team that defeated Inter Milan midweek. And if the loss was not bad enough, Eden Hazard had to be subbed off due to injury in the first half.

The Yellow Submarine have been flying as of late; Unbeaten in their last 5 games and having only lost once this season, traveling to Villarreal was going to be a stiff test for Real Madrid.

What would have been a stiff test for a Real Madrid team at full fitness seemed much more overwhelming considering Los Blancos were missing the likes of Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos, and Fede Valverde due to injury.

In addition to injuries, 2020 has brought a new concern for teams as they, along with the rest of the world, try to follow health protocols in order to avoid catching the COVID-19 virus. Luka Jovic, Casemiro, and Eder Miitao were also out of the squad list due to recent positive or inconclusive COVID-19 test results.

Needless to say, Real Madrid this season has been handicapped by both seemingly non-stop injuries and now COVID.

While many Madridistas will be rightfully disappointed by the draw this weekend versus Villarreal, there were many positive takeaways considering Real Madrid had to field a makeshift XI that lacked many of their most important players.

The most positive takeaway from the game was that RB Dani Carvajal made his return and immediately showcased why he is so important to this team. He is without a doubt one of the best fullbacks in the world and what Madrid has been lacking in our defense.

Once again it seems that the tables have turned again for Madrid. After a win versus Huesca last weekend and a hard-fought but much-needed win versus Inter Milan midweek, it seemed that Madrid was on its way to righting the ship that had been sailing erratically. 

But this is 2020, my fellow Madridistas...the year of COVID, the year of a global pandemic, and a year where it seems that nothing...absolutely nothing, is ever as it seems. 

Happiness is short-lived, misery seems always be lurking around the corner.  And in this case for Madridistas that misery is not only injury but now COVID.

Just when Madridistas were excited to see Eden Hazard back on the pitch, the current state of the world had to come in and mess everything up.  Hazard and Casemiro tested positive for COVID-19 and thus would miss this weekend's match versus Valencia. 

As every Madridista knows...Real Madrid has no substitute for Casemiro.  And when Casemiro is not on the pitch our ability to defend is left exposed. 

And this year with Varane in what can only be described as a shocking run of form, as well as multiple injuries at right-back, it is as if our only defense is Ramos and Courtois. 

In this episode, we discuss the clusterf$%k of a game that was Real Madrid's visit to Valencia. Although, it didn't start badly. A combination of bad decisions, bad luck, and lack of confidence made things go from bad to worse.

Real Madrid defeated SD Huesca 4-1 this weekend with goals coming from Eden Hazard, Fede Valverde, and a brace by Karim Benzema. The goals will undoubtedly give Los Blancos a much-needed boost in confidence considering they have been struggling to score as of late.

Eden Hazard's mid-range rocket was a welcome sight for many Madridistas. This was the Belgian's first start since returning from injury and he did not disappoint.

Fede Valverde also continues his stellar run of form and bagged both a goal and an assist.

Karim Benzema, who is seemingly Real Madrid's only in form striker, scored a brace and now has 3 goals in 2 games.

However, while Real Madrid's La Liga form has been on the up since their loss against Cádiz, Los Blancos had to claw their way back from 2-0 versus Borussia Mönchengladbach in order to walk away with a 2-2 draw in their midweek UCL fixture.

This 2-2 draw against Borussia MG, while admirable, leaves Los Blancos dead last in their UEFA Champions League group. Their upcoming game versus Italy's Inter Milan is a "do or die" fixture that is likely to determine whether or not Real Madrid has any chance of making it to the competition's knock-out stages.

El Clásico rarely disappoints.

It's also a rare game during the La Liga season that usually does not take into account the form either of the team arrives in. Either Real Madrid or Barcelona can be performing well in La Liga and suddenly find themselves on the losing end of El Clásico when the final whistle blows. The opposite is also true.

Real Madrid arrived at El Clásico in dire need of a win. A dismal performance versus Cádiz last weekend and a worse performance against Shakthar Donetsk in the UCL midweek had many Madridistas extremely worried about facing our Catalan rivals.

Real Madrid came to play. They came out with the attitude we have all been asking for. And it's fitting that the only team capable of waking up a sleeping Real Madrid was our most bitter rivals.

In our last episode, we spoke about last weekend's dismal performance versus Cádiz. We hoped that the 1-0 loss in Valdebebas would be a wake up call to both the team and Zidane. However, it seems like Real Madrid is yet to wake up and someone forgot to set the alarm clock.

After yet another disastrous first half of football, Real Madrid found themselves down 3-0 against a Shakhtar Donetsk comprised of mostly second-string players who were only playing because their starting XI had been hobbled by injury.

Madrid was able to mount somewhat of a comeback in the second half with 2 goals courtesy of Modrić and Vincius Jr., but once again it was too little, too late for Zidane's men as the scored ended 3-2.

Multiple adjectives can be used to describe Real Madrid's performance but the consensus among Madridistas is that it was bad. Really bad.

As we discussed with Dr. Jota Fúbol in Ep. 6, Real Madrid's performances this season have not been convincing. However, the team was still able to grind out wins in order to stay undefeated. There was some indication that the team was about to turn the corner and make a positive run, but those hopes were rapidly dashed in the first half versus Cádiz.

Real Madrid's terrible performance versus Cádiz over the weekend was somewhat foretold by Zidane's choice of Starting XI. His choices were likely made due to the recent international break and the upcoming UCL clash versus Shakhtar Donetsk, but there are players that have no business being starters. Zidane's weak choice of a Starting XI was on full display in the first half of the game. The performance of the team in the first 45 could be described as nothing less than tragic.
