International Competitions Recap: A Closer look at Madridistas

Several of our Madridistas are also on international duty serving their nations for both the Euro 2020 and Copa America (which commenced this week).

The much-awaited Euros commenced last week and several nations made a flying start to their campaign while some are still waiting to prove a point.

Let’s take a look at the performances and stats of Real Madrid’s stars who were called up for their national teams in the opening weekend of the Euros and the Copa America.

Luka Modric

Croatian Midfielder Luka Modric captained his side against England, however they fell to defeat before the three lions. Modric managed win 71% of the duels and participated in 7 of them, completed 1 dribble and finished the match with 93% of pass accuracy.

Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard

Both of them were called up for the Belgium National Team and they saw their team off to a flying start disposing of Russia.

Courtois played 90 minutes of the match and had a quiet day making only 1 save and provided 1 accurate long ball.

He kept a Clean Sheet

Eden Hazard, the player who will be closely watched by Madridistas for over the Euros as he still has to prove a point in the Spanish Capital. He played only 18 minutes of the match, made 8 accurate passes and made 3 successful Dribbles.

Eder Militao, Casemiro & Vinicius Jr.

The Real Madrid trio featured for Brazil in their Copa America opener against Venezuela and they went off to a flying start.

Eder Militao was rock solid at the back and made sure Alisson wasn’t tested, however he missed a big chance during the early hours of the game. He completed 6 accurate long balls, won 2 duels(out of 5), and completed the game with 5 recoveries.

Casemiro was his usual ever-present self in the Brazil midfield. He played a key role in ensuring the hosts did not relinquish control of the game. He won 9 duels, made 15 recoveries and completed by making 2 interceptions.

Both Casemiro and Militao played full 90 minutes of the match

Vinicius Jr. got only 5 minutes on the pitch and didn’t make much of an impact.
