Real Madrid started the game on the front foot as the likes of Jude Bellingham synced well with Brahim Diaz as both players lead the attack. Early chances fell on Los Blancos’ part and while Joselu could show up a few times, it wasn’t enough to make justice to the opportunities.
AC Milan slowly grew up on the match and continued establishing a 3v3 situation with Real Madrid defenders to create a goal. The Rossoneri kept the momentum ongoing and that bore fruit to them in the 26th minute when Fikayo Tomori headed home from a corner.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men found it hard to contain the Italian club as they came once again in the 42nd minute as the young Luka Romero dispatched a wonderful long-range strike which ultimately went past a flying Andriy Lunin into the goal.
The likes of Vinicius, Rodrygo, Fran Garcia, David Alaba and Dani Carvajal came on in the second half and they immediately made an impact on the game. Momentum shifted as Milan went a bit defensive which proved futile for them later on.
The comeback started in the 57th minute when Fede Valverde took a shot from outside the area which at first moment seemed easy for Marco Sportiello to grab but it eventually slipped into the goal in a moment of a goalkeeping mistake.
Within the span of two minutes from Real Madrid’s first goal, Valverde put his name again on the scoresheet with a powerful shot from outside of the box, cruising past the Milan goalkeeper as the scores went level. The comeback was complete and Real Madrid went on the score the winning goal in the 82nd minute when Vini was left alone in a 1v1 situation with the goalkeeper up front as he did what he does best, netting the third and the decider.
The match ended five goals shared, three goals for Real Madrid and two goals for AC Milan as the audience at the Rose Bowl, California were treated to a thrilling game.
