Celebrations were over the moon as Real Madrid reclaim the LaLiga title from current holders and neighborhood rivals Atletico Madrid after having a sumptuous season. It had been certain for some time now that the league title will be heading to the Santiago Bernabeu as Ancelotti’s formidable Madrid collected a total of 81 points this season (till now), 17 points ahead of the Sevilla, the chasing pack. Real Madrid ran riot against Espanyol at the Bernabeu with goals from Rodrygo, Asensio and Karim Benzema securing the 2021-22 Laliga title for the hosts.
After suffering a defeat earlier this season against Espanyol, Real Madrid showed their true character to the Catalans on Saturday. Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti decided to give a few important players like Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, Eder Militao and Vinicius Jr some rest before the vital clash against Manchester City.
Rodrygo started on the left-wing and opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after finding a pass from Marcelo in the box before slotting it into the far right corner of the goal.
The Brazilian winger was at it again just before the break after picking on a loose ball off Vidal before dancing and dribbling inside the box, sending the ball home, dummying Diego Lopez. Mariano, who had an off day actually was the creator of the goal because of his calculated pressure, helped Rodrygo pick the unbridled ball from Aleix Vidal.
The game already looked over at half-time because of the two goals and high tempo displayed by Los Blancos during the half.
Marco Asensio added his name to the scoresheet 10 minutes into the second half. The goal came off a brilliant counter-attacking move started by Eduardo Camavinga who played out a perfect well-weighted pass to the Spaniard, who then sent the ball into the far right corner of the goal making it 3-0.
Karim Benzema had the honors of putting the icing on the cake in the 81st minute with his routine goal. Vinicius Jr. dribbled into the byline before waiting for Benzema to arrive, finds him and the Frenchman keeps his stellar form going.
The victory was a resounding one for the Whites. It looked pretty well to see the team perfectly in shape and in form ahead of the clash against the Manchester giants. But for now, it’s time to celebrate and milk the moment as the 35th is home!
