Real Madrid vs Sevilla : Important Phases of the Match

It was not the best game played this season by Real Madrid and costly errors led to the opening goals for both sides. We take a look at the important phases of the match between Real Madrid and Sevilla:

12’ Rafa Mir opens the scoring for Sevilla

Sevilla drew first blood from a surprisingly simple goal as Rafa Mir was left unmarked by the Los Blancos defense and he headed home from Acuna’s second corner in succession. Rafa Mir got the time to shape his body and generate the power for the header and he beat a diving Thibaut Courtois.

14’ Sevilla’s double denied by Alaba

Sevilla nearly doubled their lead only after two minutes of the opener when Carvajal’s sloppy passing gave the ball away to the scorer Rafa Mir, he rounded off Courtois and took the shot but Alaba made a goal-line clearance, thus denying the Spaniard of his second goal.

31’ Ocampos HITS THE BAR!

Sevilla came once again as Lucas Ocampos beat Casemiro with a lovely skill and hit a curling long-rangeat shot beating Courtois but getting denied by the bar in the process.

32’ Karim Benzema level things up

Much of the goal goes to the credit of Eder Militao as he made an ambitious effort towards the goal, Bounou denied him but the ball took a serious deflection off the bar and Karim Benzema pounced on the deflected ball to slot it home. Lucky goal perhaps, but the presence of mind from Benzema helped him stretch his lead at top of the MAXIMOS GOLEADORES list.

84’ Alaba Volley just over!

Kroos teased a free-kick from the edge of the 18 yards box for David Alaba who generated enough power to unleash a powerful volley but the Austrian fired it over the crossbar.

87’ Vini, Vidi, Vici!

It was none other than Vinicius Jr. who has been crucial for Ancelotti and his men in recent games gave the lead to Real Madrid who dribbled past 2 Sevilla defenders from his left-wing to the center and unleashed a powerful curling strike from outside the box leading the scoreline to go Real Madrid 2-1 Sevilla.

Summing up everything, Real Madrid didn’t get to show their recent run of good form today especially because of the fatigued midfield. We can see some changes in midfield for the next few games, probably Camavinga will get a bigger role to play in the upcoming games.
